Indominatible Love

[Jeremiah 3]

A lone figure, standing on the porch. Straining His eyes. Yes, He sees her. She's out under a tree, this woman He longs to spend the night with. She's with someone else. Someone who can never really love her. He'll wait for her, as always. This relationship can't last long.

He surely deserved a more faithful wife. But This Man, He's not like us.

She's completely desecrated the sacred trust thousands of times. She's a harlot. And she's got quite a bad reputation among the people. Not the kind of person most would want to be around, and certainly not be married to.

But He, He's not like us. Forever faithful, forever true, forever loving...forever good. His love for her is without equal, and nothing she can do will make Him give her up. And so He risks. He trusts her yet again. And again. And again. And she? She breaks that trust. Again. And again. And again. But hope will not die. Maybe she'll be true this time...

"Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.
Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.
Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:"
(Jeremiah 3:12-14)

Still married? Yes. Because for Him, fidelity is not an option, nor based upon conditions, but a lifestyle.

Indominatible love. Stubborn belief. Unending forgiveness. A life of faithfulness.
